USA Today later released a story where a Trump adviser stated that the interview never took place.

"UAS, unmanned aerial systems, are in use by farmers such as Bill McDonnell of rural Ottawa, Ill. McDonnell uses his drone to crop scout on his own farm. When the Federal Aviation Administration gives the OK for widespread commercial use of drones for agriculture, McDonnell will be able to use information gathered by his drone as part of his Encirca Services precision agriculture business, McDonnell Ag Services."
